 Faith Scriptures

What Faith is

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen Hebrews 11:1 NKJV

Now faith is a well-grounded assurance of that for which we hope, and a conviction of the reality of things which we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 WEY

Now faith means we are confident of what we hope for, convinced of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 Moffat
Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. Hebrews 11:1 AMP

How Faith comes

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 NKJV

Yet faith comes from listening to this Good News—the Good News about Christ. Romans 10:17 TLB

Faith speaks

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:8-10 NKJV

As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Romans 4:17

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says Mark 11:22-23

Faith believes it receives no matter what  contrary evidence our senses or feelings or our experience may appear to be expressing. Faith rests knowing God's Word is true because God said it. Not because we have experienced it or had a sensory feeling or emotion.

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24 (This is the prayer of faith. Faith believes it receives the moment the petition has been made in prayer, not when the answer appears.)

For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV

The path we walk is charted by faith, not by what we see with our eyes. 2 Corinthians 5:7 Voice

who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,  and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. Romans 4:18-21 NKJV

By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11 NKJV

Faith's Divine Energizer

To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 Peter 2:1b
(Understanding our righteousness in Christ gives us bold and confident faith. Because we are just as righteous as Jesus when we ask for something in faith it is as if Jesus Himself were asking!)
